Color Study 2014

At this meeting we tried our hand at doing a color study from magazine photos. We picked colors from the photos with the colored pencils; adding colors until we were satisfied they matched. These then would be the colors for dying wool or using yarn colors from our stash to match. Very interesting way to expand our “Color Eye”.

Winter Days!

Have you gotten all your projects started for the winter? I’m still working on a christmas present for my daughter. She got the balls of yarn a beautiful shade of peach in 50% 50% wool/bamboo. So it time to begin before the tulip push thru the soil. Ha just making it a priority this month of January 2014.

Happy New Year!

As we begin a new year we’d like to welcome any new people who might have gotten a spinning wheel for Christmas.

These are just a few of the wheels our guild uses. I’m sure there are more and more coming out.

What a fun hobby to be in!

2013 Retreat Photos

We had another fun and enjoyable retreat at “The Grainery ” again this year. Several worked on baskets with Sheryl’s help and others knitted or spun. Great Time Everyone!IMG_1197

Carding Wool

It’s always fun and fascination to see all the colors we can get by doing a dye day for fibers and then getting together to share the results. This year we opened Arlene Meerdink’s garage to house our tables of dye wool and then each member would collect the colors of each dye batch to blend with drum carders.

It was a fun day with each taking home carded batts to experiment with the colors more.
